RiverCenter Plaza

This is another collaborative project which was developed with the now sadly defunct Glaserworks.
Rivercenter is a pair of class A office space towers in Covington, KY. By 2016 it had been struggling to keep podium retail units adjacent to its south facing plaza. The common sense southern orientation of the open space neglects the main amenity of the south bank of Ohio river: the magical view of downtown Cincinnati. That had emerged as a handicap and a slew of entertainment establishments had exited and left several hundred feet of empty first floor windows. The goal of the project was to reinvigorate the plaza with landscaping and shade elements which would provide comfort during the warmer months and help attract a group of new bars and restaurants.
We used a rationalized parametric system of tensile units to animate the space and provide shade. Formal variety through recombination, bright colors, and added landscaping reimagine the area in a simple yet compelling manner.
