Bruce Street Residence
Cincinnati, OH
This project started as a modest remodel and grew to a reconfiguration of all the living areas of the residence. The couple had just followed a reverse retirement vector, moving back to their Midwestern roots from Florida.
The typical early XX-th century layout with a small work kitchen and separate dining and living rooms was completely reinvented to afford a contemporary lifestyle for a couple of healthy empty nesters.
Lacking an adventurous streak, the clients are very happy with a design which relies on a few restrained gestures, combining old world vibrancy and slick new amenities.
As with any decent piece of architecture, this would no have turned out at its present level of quality had it not been a collaborative effort. Will Benson, who managed the project, contributed greatly for its completion, the discovery of concealed design possibilities, and even putting on work clothes at times.
More than half of the photos above are Will’s as well.
